My top tips for organizing your wardrobe

The change of season is the perfect opportunity to reorganize your wardrobe! Yes, it's the time to literally bring a "breath of fresh air" to your storage space by making room for warmer clothes. Put away your summer clothes, take out your winter knitwear and coats... and take the opportunity to do a good sorting. It's also an opportunity to clarify your wardrobe and bring about a renewal that's good for you and your space.

In this blog, I share practical advice on how to better organize your wardrobe and simplify your daily routine. Practical tips to optimize every nook and cranny and bring visual harmony to your wardrobe.

Time to make the transition from summer to winter linens

With the arrival of cooler temperatures, it's the perfect opportunity to put away your summer clothes and make room for warmer pieces. Take the opportunity to declutter your wardrobe and sort out what you want to keep or give away.

Start by identifying the summer clothes you won't be wearing this winter. Before putting them away, take the opportunity to sort them out: separate the pieces you want to keep from those you haven't worn or don't like any more. You can donate them to charity or to friends.

Next, prepare your winter clothes for easy access. Take out your knitwear, coats, scarves and gloves, and place them in convenient storage spaces so they're within easy reach.

Tips for organizing your wardrobe

Once you've sorted your clothes, it's time to reorganize your wardrobe. A well-organized wardrobe not only helps you save space, it can also bring a real sense of lightness and calm to your daily routine. Every item of clothing finds its place, and you save precious time every morning by quickly finding what you're looking for, without having to rummage or hesitate in front of a cluttered closet.

Here are a few tips I like to share to help you create a tidier, more soothing wardrobe.

1. Plan your space intelligently

Take the time to assess the space available in your wardrobe. Every nook and cranny can become an opportunity to optimize your storage space:

  • Use your drawers for folded clothes: Drawers are ideal for storing T-shirts, underwear, pyjamas and sportswear. Divide them into smaller sections for easy storage and better visibility of your clothes.
  • Make the most of the shelves: Place storage boxes on your shelves to hold accessories or out-of-season clothing. You can also use baskets to organize your scarves or hats. Use lower or dedicated shelves to store your shoes, sorting them by type (sneakers, boots, high heels) for easy access.
  • Double your closet space: If you have a lot of clothes to hang, add a second rod below the first to double the hanging space. For example, hang your shirts and blouses on top, and your pants and skirts on the bottom.

2. Group your clothes by category and use

Grouping clothes by category is an effective way of bringing more order to your wardrobe and making your choices easier in the morning. Start by grouping your clothes by type: place all your sweaters, shirts, pants, dresses, etc. together.

You can also organize your clothes by color for a soothing, harmonious visual effect. Choosing your outfits will be even easier! For example, sort them from lightest to darkest, by groups of similar colors or in a rainbow.

For an even more harmonious wardrobe, opt for uniform hangers to give your closet a coherent, orderly look! Personally, I prefer felt hangers: not only do they take up less space, they also prevent your clothes from slipping off, keeping everything in order effortlessly.

3. Use vertical spaces and storage accessories

Don't underestimate the importance of vertical space in your wardrobe. Use extra shelves or hanging organizers to maximize space:

  • Install hooks on unused walls to hang your scarves, bags or even jewelry, freeing up space and keeping these items close at hand.
  • Add high shelves for bulky items such as comforters, pillows or out-of-season clothing.

By applying these tips, you'll transform your wardrobe into a harmonious space, conducive to serenity and well-being. A well-organized wardrobe also means a lighter, clearer mind every day.

Why not take advantage of a quiet moment this weekend or whenever you have a bit of free time to reorganize your wardrobe? Make it an enjoyable activity: put on your favorite music, listen to an inspiring podcast or even a show in the background to make this task more pleasant.
