The story of StéZen and its founder!

Who's behind StéZen?

Some of you may know me as a singer-songwriter, having appeared on the show La Voix in 2013. My name is Stéphanie BarabéI've always loved arranging words, chords and melodies to create songs that touch people's hearts.

Since I was very young, I've also had a real passion for organizing spaces and tidying up! For me, organizing my spaces to optimize my time, efficiency and creativity is a real pleasure!

Why become a space planner?

The idea of starting my own space planning company came to me when, in 2020, I helped a friend in need. For some reason I didn't understand at the time, she had never invited me to her home. One day, I dared to ask her why, and she humbly replied that it was because she was ashamed...

Her ex-boyfriend, who had left her 2 years earlier, had left her his "brothel" with the burden that came with it. Not knowing what to do with her belongings, she had stored them in the second bedroom, which had since been used as a storeroom. Such was her discouragement that she had even neglected the rest of her apartment: the clutter had become generalized.

Out of compassion for her, I offered to help. She agreed to step on her pride and open the door of her apartment to me. When I saw the state of things, I understood why she felt so affected on the psychological, physical, professional and interpersonal levels of her life. Her external environment was clearly affecting her internal state!

So I got down to work and, with her help, started decluttering room by room. I sorted her things, cleaned up her spaces and provided her with low-cost storage solutions to help her stay on budget and optimize her space (a trip to Dollarama was a must, hihihi).

Once the organization of her apartment was complete, she immediately saw the benefits it had on her well-being.

Shortly after my visit, her sleep improved, she got a promotion at work, adopted a healthier diet, started exercising, cleaned up her circle of friends and more.... All because she decided to take charge and treat herself with love. And that meant, in this case, taking care of her environment.

From that moment on, I felt that through decluttering and organizing spaces, I could make a positive difference in people's lives. So I decided to embark on the wonderful project that is StéZen, a company whose mission is to contribute to your well-being by creating harmony in your outdoor environment.

Where does the name StéZen come from?

The name of the company was inspired by the French-English play on words created by combining part of my first name with the word zen: "Sté" or "stay" meaning "to remain" in English, and "zen" referring to calm and peace. This company name perfectly sums up the benefits of living in a healthy environment, and I wanted to share them with you!
