If our old relationships haven't been sorted out and we try to start a new one, every psychologist will tell us it's doomed to failure! It's time to clean house.<\/p><p>The same goes for our personal belongings. If we don't let go of the things that :<\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\">Do not <b>serve more<\/b>;<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Are in <b>end-of-life or obsolete<\/b>;<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Have<b> never used<\/b>;<\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">Will never be <b>used<\/b> (even if sometimes our intentions are good and we convince ourselves otherwise).<\/li><\/ul><p>Then, our drawers and cupboards will be too clogged to accommodate new items that would most likely be of interest to us. <b>more useful<\/b>.<\/p><p>There's no point in holding on to superfluous things, so let's clean up our past, let go of what clutters our spaces and say <b>YES<\/b> to the <b>new<\/b>!<\/p><h4>Take action!<\/h4><p>Have you ever heard the saying <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/evene.lefigaro.fr\/citation\/tout-peut-etre-fait-jour-peut-etre-aujourd-hui-4788.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What can be done another day, can be done today<\/a> <\/strong>\"written by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michel_de_Montaigne\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michel de Montaigne, French philosopher and writer<\/a>?<\/strong> In these words, he encourages us to take action and not put everything off until tomorrow.<\/p><p>For some people, the mountain to climb when it comes to decluttering and tidying up can seem enormous. Are you one of those people who hoard for years on end, telling yourself that one day you'll have the courage to do it?<\/p><p>If this is the case for you, then you need to change your approach today and set yourself some goals. <b>SMART<\/b> (you've probably heard of this principle in entrepreneurship):<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7793 size-medium alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/stezen.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Copie-de-S-M-A-R-T-Ste\u0301Zen-200x300.png\" alt=\"D\u00e9sencombrement SMART par St\u00e9Zen\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p><p>If you make it your mission to clean your entire house before your kids go back to school, then you'll be disappointed when the bell rings and you're still in the middle of the mess!<\/p><p>So start with a place or room that's easier (e.g. a chest of drawers) and that you think is feasible in the time allotted and with the storage items needed to complete the project. You need to be able to shout \"VICTORY!\" by the end of the day, even if it's only a small one!<\/p><h4>How to sort by category<\/h4><div><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7799 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/stezen.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/shutterstock_1765553789-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Trier par cat\u00e9gorie: Garder, donner, recycler, jeter. D\u00e9sencombrement 101.\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stezen.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/shutterstock_1765553789-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/stezen.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/shutterstock_1765553789-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stezen.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/shutterstock_1765553789-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/stezen.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/shutterstock_1765553789-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/stezen.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/shutterstock_1765553789-2048x1367.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/div><p>When you're sorting out your clutter, it's important to classify things into <b>4 main categories<\/b>.<\/p><p>Sort what you want:<\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Keep<\/b><\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Donate<\/b><\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Recycle<\/b><\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Discard<\/b><\/li><\/ul><p>If you don't know what to do with certain items, or where to take them if you wish to dispose of them, you can find information in <strong>l'<a href=\"https:\/\/www.recyc-quebec.gouv.qc.ca\/appmobile-cavaou\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00c7a va o\u00f9?\" mobile application<\/a> <\/strong>\". By entering the name of your item in the search bar, the application will tell you whether your item should be dropped off at an ecocenter, a reuse or charity organization, or whether it should be thrown away.<\/p><p>Once sorted, classify all <b>the goods you keep <\/b>in de <b>new categories<\/b> in order to keep them in clearly defined and distinct spaces.<\/p><p>If your things are stored in a disparate way, with no specific theme, it will be more difficult to find them. The key is to establish <b>storage families<\/b> who are <b>logics<\/b> and <b>functional for you<\/b>.
